2015 NFL Draft, player profile: Vic Beasley

The Cleveland Browns own the 12th and 19th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. This is a player profile guide of potential player the Browns can draft. Day 12 will feature Clemson linebacker Vic Beasley.

Beasley played four season with Clemson but would come on strong his junior season in 2013 where he had 13 sacks and 40 tackles in 13-games. Beasley would  help lead Crimson in a 40-35 victory over Ohio State in the Orange Bowl with his 5 tackles and 1 sack. The 2013 Consensus All-American had 11 sacks and 30 tackles in 2014.

Beasley was a finalist for the Bednarik, Lombardi and Hendricks Award in 2014. He was also named First-team All-ACC in 2013 and 2014.

Beasley ranked among the top performers in most of the drills at the 2015 NFL Combine at his position, including the overall top performer in the 40-yard dash and bench press at his position.

2015 NFL Combine results:

4.53 sec 40-yard dash

35 reps on bench press (225 lbs)

41 inch vertical jump

130 inch broad jump

6.91 sec 3-cone drill

4.15 sec 20-yard shuttle

Beasley brings quickness and is explosive all around, always first off the snap. His ability to change directions and burst to a target would cause problems for the opposing offense. The weakness Beasley has is his thin frame, Beasley would need to add more bulk. He would need to improve on pass rush, needs to shed blocks more.

Beasley can fill a need that Jabaal Sheard left when he took of to New England in free agency.

The first round of the NFL Draft takes place on Thursday, April 30.
