The Cleveland Browns own the 12th and 19th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. This is a player profile guide of potential player the Browns can draft. Day 13 will feature Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker.
Parker has played four season with the Louisville Cardinals. In his four year Collegiate career he has 2,775 yards and 33 touchdowns. Parker missed most of his 2014 season due to a foot injury but still piled up 855 yards and five touchdowns in six games. In 2013, Parker tied the school record with 12 touchdowns in one season.
Parker was Second-team All ACC in 2014.
Parker brings incredible body control and with the combination of soft hands and concentration, he rarely drops the ball, only credited with three drops since 2012. His strength is going after the ball, with the combination of his speed, height, and wingspan, he can grab anything thrown at or around him. His weakness, however is the lack of strength, and he needs to improve on running routes, they're inconsistent at times. Parker needs to use his speed to break away from cornerbacks before making contact.
2015 NFL Combine results:
4.45 40-yard dash
17 reps on bench press (225 lbs)
36.5 inch vertical jump
125 inch broad jump
Prior to the Browns signing wide receivers Dwayne Bowe and Brain Hartline, there was a glaring hole at wide receiver for the Browns with Josh Gordon being suspended for the 2015 season, so Parker could have been the Browns selection with the No. 12 pick. The Browns may believe they have filled the need at wide receiver in the offseason and would likely hole off on taking a wide receiver until the later rounds of the draft.
The first round of the NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 30.
