EAST CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A family is left with questions after a tragedy involving a 9-year-old boy.
Devion Lesure passed away from his injuries on Tuesday after an East Cleveland service truck hit him on Friday.
His grandmother, Tracy Lesure, says Devion was a bright light in the family.
"9 years old. His birthday coming up in July. He didn't get the chance to be 10 years old. It's sad. It's really sad," said Lesure.
Devion was at the intersection of Hayden and Fourth in East Cleveland when he ran into the road and was hit by a service truck. He was taken to Rainbow Babies in critical condition and put on life support. He was later taken off life support.
"I'm going to miss him trying to show me how to work my phone, and he's good with his hands, and put it back together," Lesure said.
The family is looking for answers.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the actual accident because it involves a city vehicle. On Wednesday, East Cleveland Police said they were interviewing witnesses and investigating the possibility that Devion was being bullied and ran into the street to get away from another young boy, who may have been throwing rocks or bricks.
"I don't know how it happened, but I just want someone to be accountable for what happened," said Lesure.
A fund has been set up at U.S. Bank to help the family with burial costs.
