DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Officer Michael Brelo's defense team is calling a forensic criminologist back to the stand Tuesday to prove their claim.

Lance Martini will continue his testimony. He has been focusing on firearms and ballistics, painting a different picture than defense experts on the subjects.

He will be followed by use of force expert Ron Martinelli.

Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell, both unarmed, were gunned down in the Heritage Middle School parking lot in East Cleveland at the end of the chase in November 2012. A group of 13 officers fired 137 shots. Prosecutors say Officer Brelo fired 49 of those shots

The defense is expected to end its case by the end of the week.

It is unclear if Officer Brelo will take the stand.
