Daughter of slain couple granted judicial release

The Summit County woman whose parents were murdered by her ex-boyfriend is a free woman again.

Chelsea Schobert was released from prison Tuesday after serving nearly a year for


Schobert, who gave birth to a little girl while locked up, was originally sentenced to 30 months. She was granted an early release.

Schobert is the adopted daughter of Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert. The couple was murdered in their New Franklin home.

Her boyfriend, Shawn Ford, Jr., has been convicted of murdering the couple in their home on April 2, 2013.

Ford was convicted in October 2014. The jury in his trial issued two recommendations, life in prison with no chance of parole and death. It is up to the judge to determine his fate.

15-year-old Jamall Vaughn, who was with Ford when they brutally murdered the Schoberts, pleaded guilty in February to double murder.

No sentencing date for either has been set.
