AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Douglas Prade's case will be back in Judge Christine Croce's courtroom once again, this after the Ohio Supreme Court rejected the former police captain's appeal for a new trial.

The Akron court will now hold a status conference with both sides, which is the next step in this process.

Prade, 69, was convicted in 1998 of murdering his wife Dr. Margo Prade the day before Thanksgiving. He has already served 15 years of his sentence.

Prade's conviction was overturned in 2013 and he was free for over a year before the Ohio Supreme Court declined to hear the State vs. Douglas Prade case, and denied a motion to extend his Court of Appeals stay. They immediately ordered him back to jail.

Prade remains locked up at Allen Correctional Institution in Lima.
