Browns add Danny Shelton & Cameron Erving in the 2015 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns have selected NT Danny Shelton

and OL Cameron Erving

in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday.

There was a lot of speculation leading up to the draft that the Browns could select Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, that did not happen. It appears the Browns may head into preseason workouts with Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel as the two main quarterbacks.

The Browns add Nose Tackle from Washington Danny Shelton with the 12th overall pick and offensive lineman from Florida State Cameron Erving.

Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer added this statement on Shelton, "Danny Shelton, obviously a big kid with size. Here's a young man who played upwards of 90 to 100 snaps out there in the PAC-12. He showed some ability to rush the passer, can play lateral and down the line of scrimmage. Definitely is a guy who I like to refer to as a guy who requires four hands, where he's going to require more than one guy to pay attention to him. I love his temperament. I love how he played. I love that this kid is a smart kid, high GPA – high school and college. The guy is a football player. We're excited about the fact that we're going to add a guy that helps us solidify the middle of our defense and make us better up front."

Here is some more information on the newest Cleveland Browns.

Danny Shelton in his four seasons with Washington he has a total of 197 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Shelton was named First-team All Pac 12 in 2014, where he was a force at nose tackle with 93 tackles, good for second on the team, and had nine sacks.

Shelton is not only great on the field, he's great in the classroom, where he was named First-team Academic All-Pac 12 three times (2012, 2013, 2014).

In 2014, Shelton led the nation in fumble recoveries with 5. Shelton's big frame crowds the line of scrimmage and maintains good positioning against double teams. He can dominate the run game with his strength and athleticism, Shelton has the ability to shed tackles and swat cut blocks. Shelton also gets his hands inside the offensive lineman first on a consistent basis.

The Browns have a need on the defensive front with Jabaal Sheard and Athyba Rubin leaving in the offseason. The Browns will look to fill that need in the draft, a lot of draft analyst project Shelton being one of the selections for the Browns on Thursday night.

Shelton's combine results:

5.64 seconds 40-yard dash

30.5 inch vertical jump

4.65 seconds 20-yard short shuttle

7.99 seconds three-cone drill

34 reps on bench press (225 lbs), tied for second-best among his position.

Cameron Erving played Center at Florida St. He is 6'5" and 313 lbs. and is a force on the offensive line. He started all 13 games in 2013 playing left tackled where he was named All-ACC.

Erving is a two-time winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which is given to the ACC's top blocker.

Erving was named first-team All-ACC tackle and third-team All-ACC center after he made the switch inside toward the end of the 2014 season.
