CLINTON VILLAGE - Canton Fire officials have said that Division Fire Chief Kerry Ball was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that happened just before 7 p.m. in Clinton Village, OH. Ball, 54, was driving his 2014 custom motorcycle on North Lawrence Road when he traveled off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say alcohol is not a factor in the crash, but Ball was not wearing his helmet.

Kerry has been with the Canton Fire Department since 1990. He was promoted to Captain in 2001, and Division Chief in 2007. His latest assignment was supervising EMS, Operations, Training and Technical Rescue.

He leaves behind a wife, two sons, and two daughters.

Calling hours are set for Tuesday, May 5 from 4-7 p.m. at Swigart Easterling Funeral Home in Canal Fulton. Funeral mass will be held the next day at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Heavens Church in Green..
