A former bailiff convicted of having sex with an inmate was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison.
Lee Roy, 45, pled guilty last month to bribery. Prosecutors say the South Euclid man engaged in sexual activity with a female inmate while employed as a Cleveland Municipal Bailiff. Authorities say he used his position to get sexual favors, like kissing and oral sex, from a suspect who was in a holding cell awaiting a court hearing.
"Lee Roy deserved to go to prison," said Assistant County Prosecutor Matthew Meyer, head of the Public Corruption Unit in the Prosecutor's Office. "When he engaged in sex with an inmate after suggesting he could help her with her case, he abused his position as a court bailiff and badly damaged the reputation of the legal system and the rest of the honest, hardworking men and women who dispense justice in this courthouse every day."
Roy was arrested on Christmas Eve of last year.
