AVON, OH (WOIO) - A teacher at Holy Trinity School in Avon is accused of shoving a student into a locker.
Officials from the Diocese of Cleveland say an eighth-grade student reported the incident on Tuesday.
The student told the vice principal that she had gone inside of a classroom locker. When she stepped out of the locker, the student says the teacher grabbed her by the shoulder, placed her back in the locker and shut the locker door.
The teacher was placed on leave during an investigation. Once the investigation was concluded Diocese officials say the decision was made that the teacher will no longer be employed by the school.
The Diocese released a statement Wednesday afternoon, which reads in part:
We at Holy Trinity School believe that the well-being of our students is our first priority. As part of our commitment to the children in our care, all of our teachers and staff are required to undergo training in accordance with the Diocese of Cleveland's Policy for the Safety of Children. This training includes training and education relating to the observance of proper boundaries relative to adult interactions with students.
