AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Officers responding to a call about a shooting stumbled upon a different crime being committed and made two arrests.
Akron police say while investigating a shooting, they checked a house on East Archwood Avenue and saw mason jars containing marijuana. After getting a search warrant cops found over 200 grams of marijuana, heroin, hypodermic syringes and equipment used to grow marijuana.
Nadyne C. Blumer, 25, and Michael J. Hayes were arrested. Blumer was charged with cultivating marijuana, trafficking in drugs, possession of heroin, possession of drug instruments and endangering children. Hayes was charged with cultivating marijuana, trafficking in drugs and endangering children. They were booked into the Summit County Jail.
Blumer and Hayes have two daughters, 5 and 6 years old, who also lived in the home. They were placed with family members.
