J.R Smith announced on his Instagram that he will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Smith was acquired by the Cavaliers in a trade from the New York Knicks, where they also landed guard Iman Shumpert.

Smith played in 46 games for the Cavs, starting 45. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals a game for Cavs in the regular season. Smith came off the bench in the playoffs after his two game suspension for hitting Celtics' Jae Crowder in Game 4 of the Conference Semifinals. Shumpert took over the starting role for the remainder of the playoffs.

The former six-man of the year was the Cavs three-point specialist last season, averaging 7.3 three-point attempts per game, shooting 39%.
