MANSFIELD, OH (WOIO) - Richland County Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon now says a bullet fired Thursday inside the Commissioner's board room in the Richland County Administration Building and Courthouse was intentional.
The courthouse was on lockdown after Michael Skidmore got into an argument with a clerk and a tussling match with two security guards during a public meeting.
Friday the Sheriff's Office released a statement saying, 'information was obtained from one of the witnesses inside the board room that thought it was accidental from their perspective. It has since been learned that the shot fired was intentional.'
During the incident Skidmore struggled with two guards, striking one in the head several times and biting the other guard's cheek. One guard fired his gun.
Though the bullet hit only the wall, both guards were injured.
Skidmore is expected to be charged with felonious assault.
The investigation continues.
