PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

John Owen's Adventure Inc. 7th Annual Picnic in the Park took place Saturday at the German Central in Parma with live music, games, food and prizes.

This event raises funds to research a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a fatal form of the disease.

Several new bands took to the stage: Victory Highway, Natalie Kulka, Jungle Terry and JOA's original favorites, The Polka Pirates.

Mama Mias Foods and Dairy Queen served up their fan favorites. Both companies donate 100% of their proceeds to JOA.  That's not all, Famous Dave's and the Fire Truck Pizza Company returned with some traditional picks.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne) is a fatal progressive disorder that causes loss of muscle function and independence, affecting mainly young boys. John Owen's Adventure Inc. (JOA) is dedicated to discovering a treatment, improving research and establishing education and awareness programs about Duchenne for all individuals who are affected by this disease.
