LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) -

The U.S. Coast Guard searched Lake Erie by air and boat after reports of a possible person in the water off Edgewater Drive.

USCG officials say they received a report around 10 p.m. Tuesday from Cleveland Fire of a man jumping off a pier in Lakewood. The man has not resurfaced since reportedly disappearing under a wave.

Later Wednesday, the Coast Guard suspended their search for the man after completing 10 different search patterns to cover the area. Most of the search data is pushing everything to the shore.

The description given for the victim was a white male, 20 to 25 years old, wearing a red shirt, black shorts and a blue ball cap.

Officials say there are no correlating missing persons reports in that area.

They may resume the search if they receive new information.
