LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) - Charges have been filed against a 16-year-old for a rash of vandalism in the area.
Most of the vandalism happened on the evening of July 3, but merchants worked quickly to remove it. Several buildings, poles and traffic boxes were tagged with graffiti. The vandals tagged a string of businesses 24 times.
The charges were based on the spray painting of "GEEK." Through citizens tip, social media posts, and surveillance cameras, Lakewood Detectives were able to identify the suspect. During an interview the suspect admitted to these crimes. A total of 13 separate instances of vandalism were filed against the suspect.
According to Lakewood Police Chief Tim Malley, "The investigations are continuing and charges are possible against others."
