Ohio Department of Transportation has major traffic closures starting July 17 impacting traveling through, into, and out of downtown Cleveland. Construction crews will work on the Innerbelt Bridge over the weekend, which will affect interstate and downtown traffic and motorists should watch for detours.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, East 9th Street will close in both directions between Carnegie Avenue and Ontario/Orange. Beginning at 6 a.m. Monday morning, East Ninth Street will reopen to inbound traffic off I-90 ONLY. Those who use East 9th outbound to access I-77 south should use East 14th Street instead. The East Ninth Street ramp to I-90 west will remain OPEN. This one-way condition will remain until about mid-September.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, July 17th, I-90 will close in both directions between I-490 and I-77 over the Innerbelt Bridge. Motorists should take alternate route using I-490 and I-77 to detour. The westbound lanes are expected to reopen no later than 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 19. The eastbound lanes will open no later than 6 a.m. Monday, July 20. Be alert for changing traffic patterns.
