Woman killed in pit bull attack laid to rest

Family and friends will have a chance to pay respects to a woman killed after being attacked by a pit bull.

Annie Williams, 71, of Cleveland, died at South Pointe Hospital Sunday, July 12. It happened on pit bull on Pennington Road. Police say Williams was picking up her two great granddaughters in Shaker Heights when the dog attacked.

Monday from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. people can go to Martin's Funeral home on East 131st, sign a guest book and see a video of her life. The funeral service for the grandmother of five and great grandmother of six will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church on Kinsman.

The animal was wounded by a neighbor, who shot at the dog after witnessing the attack. The wounded dog was then shot and killed by officers in a backyard in the 3600 block of Pennington. The person who owned the pit bull is not a relative of Williams.
