WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - The investigation into the Westlake fireworks incident at Crocker Park Mall is now closed.
Nine bystanders were injured in the accident during the annual American Liberty Fest fireworks display on June 28, 2015.
According to state investigators, it was an apparent product malfunction during detonation of set up on the roof.
The injured were there watching the celebration.
The event was never rescheduled.
Westlake Police say the mishap happened less than five minutes into the show and caused the display to be cut short. The system was installed and operated by fireworks vendor American Fireworks of Hudson.
