A nationwide report set to be released later this week found some of the roughest roads in the nation are in northeast Ohio.
The report, "Bumpy Roads Ahead: America's Roughest Rides and Strategies to Make our Roads Smoother," evaluates the condition of America's urban roads.
Researchers looked at pavement conditions in large and mid-sized urban areas and calculated the additional vehicle operating costs for the average motorist as a result of driving on deteriorated roads. The report also includes information on transportation funding, travel trends and economic development.
The TRIP report is being released as the federal surface transportation program, which is a critical source of road repair funding, is set to expire on July 31.
The report will be released on Thursday, July 23.
