LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Lorain Police say a Good Samaritan risked his own safety to pull a 4-year-old boy from a flipped vehicle after a drunk driving crash caused by his father.
Police received numerous 911 calls reporting the crash near Colorado Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
When police arrived, they say the vehicle was overturned by the roadway. Several citizens had stopped to help and were holding the vehicle, trying to get to the child inside.
According to police, one man climbed into the vehicle and rescued the child. Unfortunately, the man left before he could be identified.
Robert Kubal Jr., 25, of Sheffield Township, told police he had several alcoholic drinks earlier that night. He said he was driving home from Roverfest, when his son told him to go faster. Kubal told police when he accelerated around a corner, he lost control and went off the road, flipping the vehicle.
Kubal and his child were not injured in the crash.
Kubal was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, endangering children, failure to control and having no valid driver's license.
