Police investigating weekend carjackings in Tremont

Cleveland Police are investigating two violent aggravated robberies that happened in the Tremont neighborhood over the weekend.

The first happened around 5:20 a.m. on Saturday at 806 Literary Road. A 37-year-old Lakewood man, who works at Barrio, told police after closing the bar, he was walking to his vehicle parked in front when he was approached by two men from the patio. He says one hit him with a gun and threatened to kill him if he did not get down on the ground. Then he says they stole his wallet, phone, and car keys before fleeing in his brown 2006 GMC Envoy.

The second incident happened around 10:20 p.m. Sunday at West 7th Place and Novak Alley. Police say a 23-year-old couple from North Royalton were walking to their parked cars on Novak when they were approached from behind by two male suspects. One suspect told them to get on the ground and keep quiet. Police say both suspects were armed with guns and stole the victims' keys and cell phones. The suspects then fled in the stolen cars: a gray 2013 Toyota Corolla and a black 2011 Toyota Corolla. The male victim pinged his phone and the last known location was East 93rd Street and Harvard Avenue.

No arrests have been made. Police have not said if the two robberies were committed by the same suspects, but they did happen within blocks of each other. Anyone with more information is urged to call police at 216-623-5464.
