A house, at least two cars and a fence were damaged by an erratic driver fleeing a shooter on Cleveland's west side, according to witnesses.
Cleveland Police are investigating a felonious assault shooting that happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of Delmar Avenue.
Preliminary information reveals officers responded to the area for a male shot. It was later learned that the 36-year-old male victim had been transported to MetroHealth Hospital by EMS for a grazing wound to the top of his head.
When officers interviewed the victim at the hospital, he reported he had been outside of a friend's house on Delmar when he was confronted by an unknown male who struck him on top of his head with a gun. When he fell, he says several unknown people began to punch and kick him as he was on the ground.
The victim told police he then ran to his car and fled as suspects fired shots at him. He drove to another location on Archwood Avenue, where police and EMS were called. While fleeing, the victim reported striking a fence.
Neighbors say they heard at least four shots fired on Chestnutdale Avenue, but no one was reported injured.
The victim reported seeing a silver SUV on Delmar prior to being assaulted.
Police say multiple calls for shots fired were received around this time in the same area, where the same vehicle was described. Anyone with more information is urged to call Cleveland Police at 216-623-5464.
