The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a 22-year-old man that happened around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Preliminary investigation reveals that officers responded to an apartment in the 10800 block of Mount Carmel Road for a male shot. Officers located Cory Sanderfer in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was transported to MetroHealth Hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses reported that Sanderfer was involved in a verbal altercation with another male before the suspect fired through the front window of the apartment.

Police say the 23-year-old suspect fled on foot, but was later arrested in the 2400 block of Morris Black Place.
