HURON, OH (WOIO) -

A 15-year-old Huron boy was killed Friday when he was hit by a train at the Berlin Road train crossing.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say around 1:30 p.m., Keegan J. Rarden of Huron was riding his bike north on Berlin Road when he was hit by a westbound Norfolk Southern train on the Chicago line.

Authorities say an eastbound train had just cleared the intersection when the westbound train came through and struck Rarden.

Officials say the crossing gates and lights were still active when Rarden was hit.

Authorities say the train was at a speed near 50 miles per hour, and its light, bell and horn were functional and activated before the crossing.

The crash is still under investigation.
