WAYNESBURG, OH (WOIO) - The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on July 31.

The Friday night incident occurred around 9:32 p.m. on State Route 43 near the intersection of Indian Run in Sandy Township of Stark County.

Investigators say a red 1996 Ford Ranger traveling north on State Route 43, passed a curve and swerved back into the north travel lane striking a 2016 Kenworth semi.

The driver of the Ford, 40-year-old Bryan K. Baker, of Beloit, Ohio, then traveled off the east edge of State Route 43 and struck a tree.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Stark County Coroner's Office.

The semi truck driver James O. Gray, 56, of Rayland, Ohio was not injured in the collision.

Authorities say both were wearing a safety belt and the crash remains under investigation.
