FORT MYERS, FL (WOIO) -

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Highway Interdiction Team says it began with a traffic stop on July 30, 2015.

Detectives say they spotted a stolen 2015 Mercedes on State Route 82.

On Thursday, July 30, 2015, the Lee County Sheriff's Office Highway Interdiction Team encountered a young man who tried to chew his way out of trouble.  As he sat in the rear of a law enforcement cruiser, the suspect is recorded actually trying to remove his fingerprints with his teeth.

Authorities would soon learn that the driver, 20-year-old Kenzo Robert, was using a fake ID, and possessed a concealed firearm as well as three fraudulent credit cards.

Officers say as Roberts was being detained in the back of the patrol vehicle, he attempted to remove his own fingerprints by chewing them off and rubbing them against the cage.

Despite his efforts, a fingerprint scanner quickly identified Roberts and showed two felony warrants for his arrest out of Broward County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A host of charges were brought against Roberts including three counts of possession of a counterfeit credit card, grand theft auto, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of similitude of a driver's license, driving while license suspended, and false identification given to law enforcement.

To add to his troubles, Border Patrol was contacted and found that Roberts was in the U.S. illegally.
