AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Akron police say Darwain Rouse shot a man at the Circle K on Arlington Ave. Saturday. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury to his head and was treated and released at a nearby hospital.

Officers on patrol heard yelling and a gunshot and saw Rouse running from the area. They chased him on foot and say Rouse pointed a gun at them.

Police say that's when one officer fired one time, hitting Rouse in the ear. The 33-year-old Akron man then surrendered and was taken into custody.
Rouse was treated at an area hospital before being taken to the jail.

Rouse pleaded not guilty and bond was set at $500,000.  The officer who fired the shot is on administrative leave.
