OSHA investigating death of worker killed in trench collapse in Geauga County

GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Cleveland office is working with the State of Ohio Public Employees Risk Reduction Program to investigate the death of a worker.

The 54-year-old worker was killed August 4 around 3 p.m. Officials say he buried under a load of dirt while working in a trench on Reeves Road just east of Bundysburg Road in Parkman, Ohio.

According to authorities two Parkman Township employees were working in an unprotected trench about 10 feet deep when one of the sides caved in. 

The excavator operator who dug the trench is R. Humr Construction Company Inc.

The victim's name has not been released.
