Rooftop fire at City Tap building

Rooftop fire at City Tap building

Cleveland Fire has apparently extinguished what looked like a huge rooftop fire at Huron and Prospect Ave.

The first call about the fire came into the newsroom around 6:35 p.m.

The most well-known occupant in the building is the City Tap bar.

Several fans were downtown for either a Gladiators or Indians game when the fire began.

People at the scene say they heard what sounded like an explosion around 6:40 p.m.

What added to the concern was thinking of the numerous residents who live in condos above the bar.

Cleveland Fire seemed to get things under control in an swift manner.

As of 7:30 p.m., traffic was still congested in the area.

There is no report of what caused the fire or of any injuries.

Check back for more information as it becomes available from the Cleveland Fire Department.
