Cleveland Police are investigating after someone opened fire, hitting a car on I-71 northbound under the West 130th bridge Wednesday around 2:30 p.m.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the gunfire.
Police do not believe the shooting was random and say the driver may have been targeted.
Residents who live off the highway exit say this hits too close to home.
"We heard probably about five shots and my daughter said, 'oh, it's fireworks,'" said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.
Authorities say someone shot at the car 11 times as the driver headed north on I-71.
After neighbors saw the shape the car was in, they were relieved that no one on their street or driving down the highway was hit.
Two bullets even pierced the glass of the passenger side window.
"I really couldn't believe it. It's crazy," said Twila Cox.
Cox thought it was just another car backfiring on I-71 across from her house.
"We heard something but we didn't know it was gunshots," she said.
Neighbors are left wondering what happened, but are thankful their families are safe.
"I'm just glad everyone's okay," Cox said.
