Two men busted robbing Family Dollar

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, officers patrolling in the area of 994 Brown Street heard an audible alarm coming from the Dollar General Store.

When they pulled into the parking lot they saw the lights flashing inside of the store.  

While checking the outside of the store, two men ran out a south side door carrying items.

Following a brief foot chase, both suspects were caught.

Officers arrested Jermaine Maddox, 31, of Chardon, and Michael C. Serene, 32, of Kent, Ohio.  

Maddox was charged with breaking and entering, obstructing official business, possession of criminal tools and resisting arrest. Serene was charged with breaking and entering, obstructing official business and possession of drugs.  

Both are being held in the Summit County Jail.

Officers recovered cartons of cigarettes and a crow bar wrapped in a t-shirt.
