Hugo Ramos was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for murdering his ex-wife in September 2014.
Less than a week ago a jury convicted him of aggravated murder, kidnapping, felonious assault, domestic violence and endangering children.
During the trial, Ramos took the stand in his own defense.
Glorimar Ramos-Perez was found dead in their Newark Avenue home.
Ramos survived a bizarre suicide attempt in Lorain County on Sept. 15, when he walked in front of a semi, drank gasoline and set himself on fire. His three young children were witnesses. Ramos then told troopers, where they could find his ex-wife's body.
Ramos will not be eligible for parole until 2045.
