A Cleveland man pleaded guilty Monday for the murder of his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Rufus Gray shot and killed 12-year-old Davia Garth in her Clement Avenue home on Oct. 30, 2014, when Gray broke into the house and began firing.
The girl's mother, Sonya Garth, 45, was also shot. She had filed for divorce from Gray in April 2014 after four years of marriage. Gray also assaulted two other victims who were in the home at the time, a 24-year-old man and a 3-year-old boy.
Gray had just been released from probation on October 25 for a 2012 felony domestic violence conviction that also involved an attack on Sonya Garth.
In 1989, Gray entered a plea of guilty to voluntary manslaughter after he killed a CMHA security guard who had been trying to break up a fight at the Longwood Estates.
Gray will be sentenced on Tuesday, August 18 at 1:30 p.m.
