CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has announced the capture of 23-year-old fugitive Shawn Ladson.
U.S. Marshals profiled Ladson as Fugitive of the Week back in August, weeks after his alleged involvement in a July murder.
Tips poured in over the next four months, but the task force was unable to narrow the search until a final tip was received Friday around 5:45 p.m. The tipster confirmed Ladson was in a residence on the 7200 block of Indiana Avenue in Cleveland.
Officers found Ladson hiding in a bedroom and located a loaded handgun within the area.
The firearm was seized by Cleveland Police, where it is being processed for identification.
Officials say Ladson tried to alter his appearance by wearing a long-haired wig that was woven into his hairline.
"The victim's family can now breathe a sigh of relief, now that the man responsible for the murder of their loved one is off the streets," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
Ladson was wanted for a homicide in the 900 block of Wheelock Avenue in Cleveland back on July 20. U.S. Marshals say Ladson, along with two other accomplices, broke into the victim's apartment just after 2 a.m. Shots were fired during the encounter and a 22-year-old man was killed.
The two other accomplices were arrested shortly after the incident, but Ladson had managed to elude capture for months.
