AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Charges have been filed in a deadly home invasion on Hilbish Avenue in Akron.

Akron Police say on Aug. 7, 21-year-old resident David Hillis shot and killed 25-year-old burglary suspect Marcus Glover after he and Terry Tart forced their way into the residence at gunpoint. When Hillis produced a handgun, Glover and Tart fled, but Hillis fired shots and killed Glover. Tart escaped, but was later identified as the other suspect.

On Monday morning, Hillis was brought into the police department by his attorney and charged with voluntary manslaughter.

He was arraigned in Akron Municipal Court and then booked into the Summit County Jail.

Glover’s co-conspirator, 37-year-old Tart, was charged with aggravated burglary and murder. Police say Glover’s death was a proximate cause of Tart and Glover’s committing the aggravated burglary together.

Tart is currently in the Summit County Jail on unrelated charges.
