University of Akron President Scott. L Scarborough announced that Larry Williams has been named the Zips' Director of Athletics, effective September 1.
Williams replaces Tom Wistrcill, who returned to the Learfield Sports' UniversityPartnership Group as senior vice president.
Pending approval by the University's Board of Trustees, Williams will be introduced to the campus and community during a news conference on Tuesday, August 25, at 9:30 A.M. at InfoCision Stadium. The you can watch the event on GoZips.com where it will be streamed live.
"Larry Williams was our top choice," Scarborough said. "He brings a wealth of experience to the position. We are very excited to see what Larry will do to elevate our intercollegiate athletics program to a higher level."

Williams comes to the University from Equity Management, Inc., where he led the nation's largest corporate licensing program, increasing marketing, royalties, and branding.
