AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A babysitter in Summit County pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection with the death of a 7-week-old infant.

50-year-old Laura Flores-Santillan pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and endangering children.

Prosecutors say Flores-Santillan was hired to babysit the child in September 2014.

The infant’s mother dropped the child off at Flores-Santillan’s Akron home. At noon that day, Flores-Santillan discovered the infant was unresponsive, and took the baby to a neighbor’s home, asking them to call 911.

It was determined the infant had suffered a traumatic brain injury, believed to be from the child’s head hitting an object while being shaken.

The baby was removed from life support four days later.

Flores-Santillan will be sentenced on September 23rd at 9 a.m.
