Investigation nets 4 arrests in cocaine trafficking ring

The Mentor Police Department arrested four suspects in the past week associated with local cocaine trafficking, after an investigation conducted over several months with assistance from Lake County Narcotics Agency and Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Darryl L. Howard, 32, of Willowick, faces felonious charges of trafficking in cocaine, aggravated possession of cocaine, and possession of criminal tools.

Edward M. Hedge, 50, of Cleveland, faces felonious charges of trafficking in cocaine and aggravated possession of cocaine. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse, which are both misdemeanors.

Lawson D. White, 42, of Mentor, faces felonious charges of trafficking in cocaine, aggravated possession of cocaine, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of criminal tools.

Gregory A. Bell, 45, of Mentor, faces felonious charges of trafficking in cocaine, aggravated possession of cocaine, and possession of criminal tools. Additionally, he was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, which are misdemeanors.

Mentor Police recovered more than 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, marijuana and doses of marijuana candy. More than $44,000 in cash, eight firearms, and three vehicles were seized, as a result of these arrests.

All four suspects were arraigned on Friday in the Mentor Municipal Court.

An investigation is ongoing with additional charges and arrests expected.
