CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - In his short life, 5-year-old Memphis Vance has undergone 28 major surgeries, including a liver transplant; and 41 minor surgeries while battling a life-threatening disease. Sunday morning, he left for a week long trip to Walt Disney World, courtesy of A Special Wish-Cleveland Chapter.
Before leaving Hopkins, the crew at Spirit Airlines let Memphis sit in the cockpit, and Spider-Man was also there to send him off.
This will be a welcome change for the Vance family, who spends much of their time at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital where Memphis is being treated.
The Vance family will stay at the Give Kids the World Village, a 79-acre resort in the heart of central Florida. The resort caters to families of children with life-threatening illnesses and is completely free of charge.
A Special Wish said the wish was made possible by generous donations from the Rossi Family, 1n3 LLC Event Management, and the Bob Vincent Memorial Golf Tournament.
ASW is a Cleveland-based wish granting foundation, granting wishes for Cleveland-based children, from birth to 20-years-old, with life- threatening diseases.
