NORTH OLMSTED, OH (WOIO) -

ThenDesign Architecture and North Olmsted Schools have unveiled the first draft of plans for the district's new 6-12 campus on Butternut Ridge Road.

The $90 million school building, athletic facility and performing arts center complex will be on nearly 8 acres of the current campuses. It will face Butternut Ridge Road with a collegiate campus look designed to blend in as an integral part of the Butternut Ridge Historic District.

The middle school and high school academic areas will be separate from each other, with the media center in the middle. Each academic area will have prominent separate entrances, along with the performing arts center.

The athletic facilities will be behind the academic buildings, yet close enough to utilize them for concessions and restrooms during athletic and special events.

Community forum updates are scheduled for Oct. 26 and Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria to keep the community informed on progress and the demolition of the middle school. The project is expected to wrap up in 2018.
