WADSWORTH, OH (WOIO) - Wadsworth fire crews battled a large industrial blaze near the corner of Main and State streets on Monday night.

According to the chief, the fire broke out around 7 p.m. at an open air storage facility housing plastics.

Witnesses say the smoke was so thick it blacked out most of the sky.

Several members of the fire department were doing a training exercise nearby when they smelled smoke and responded to the scene.

Crews from Rittman and Seville were called in to assist in fighting the fire.

As of 8:45 p.m. the fire was under control, but crews were still working to put out hot spots.

One fireman was hurt after he twisted his ankle.
