WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - It's a billion dollar business that seems to be getting bigger every year, and more people are shelling out cash for the right costume.
"We open in the middle of August and people want us to open sooner than that. It's an event. It's a big deal. Halloween is huge," says Wes Spangler from Spirit Halloween.
"I just like to dress up. I think it's fun," says customer Nadia Bennett.
Bennett is going as a character from the Game of Thrones. She likes to go all out for Halloween, but has a budget.
"I usually cap it around $60, $70. That's pushing it sometimes," says Bennett.
At Spirit Halloween in Westlake, we shopped around and found at least one costume going for $70: a full pumpkin suit.
Some of the top female adult costumes this year include the super hero villain. They are flying off the shelves for about $55.
"Super heroes are huge in general. And then next year, Suicide Squad comes out, and that's all the villains to Batman, and that just elevated the villains even more," explains Spangler.
The Day of the Dead costumes are really popular this year, but in order to be among the "in crowd," you'll have to pay $50.
Women can dress up like a princess for a little cheaper at $45.
Over on the men's side, super heroes are also a big hit.
Star Wars-themed costumes are all the buzz, costing $55.
If you thought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was just for kids, guess again. Adults are picking up the green costumes for $55.
There are plenty of options, depending on how much you're willing to pay.
