MADISON TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a one-vehicle crash in which three Richland County residents lost their lives.
It happened Sunday morning at 4:05 a.m., on Illinois Avenue, north of State Route 430 in Madison Township.
According to the report, 21-year-old Steven W. Foley, of Mansfield, Ohio, was traveling southbound on Illinois Avenue in a 1998 Plymouth Neon when the vehicle went off of the right side of the road before crossing the left side of the road and striking several trees before catching fire.
Foley and two other people inside his car were killed. The names of those victims are Corrine J. Coleman, 24, of Ontario, Ohio and Zachary T. Lawson, 20, of Mansfield, Ohio.
Another occupant Brandon W. Moore, 22, of Mansfield, Ohio was transported by Madison Township EMS to Mansfield Ohio Health Hospital. Moore was the only occupant wearing a safety belt.
Officials believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Mansfield post was assisted by the Richland County Sheriff's Office as well as the Richland County Coroner's Office and Madison Township Fire and EMS.
