CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - There's an oldie but goodie coming to downtown Cleveland. Geiger's will open a new store on Euclid.
Gordon Geiger says their store is the last piece of the puzzle in what has been a surge of development in downtown Cleveland.
"Hopefully there'll be somebody moving in next door as well and then we hope it goes all the way down the street to Playhouse Square," Geiger said.
It's been more than a decade since someone utilized the space at the Ivory Building and Geiger's can't wait to move in permanently.
The store has been in business since 1932 and specializes in sportswear, casual lifestyle clothing, active wear and shoes.
Geiger hopes to capitalize on all the visitors and downtown traffic.
"It should be fun to shop in this store. We use the term experiential, where our stores look totally unique and unlike any other store in the country," Geiger said.
There are differing views on all the renovation taking place.
"I think this will be a great benefit for downtown Cleveland, getting new stores, promoting the economy, I think there's a lot of good renovation going on down here so I'm happy to be a part of that," said one downtown resident.
"No one is going to afford this, especially not the crowd you see downtown Cleveland because downtown Cleveland is a bunch of extremely homeless people or extremely rich," said another downtown resident.
But Geiger and his crew can't wait for opening day.
The store will open November 12, just in time for Black Friday and the holidays.
