CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - I'm Elle Heeg, a public health registered nurse with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, reminding you that it is time to get your flu shot.
The flu can cause body aches, chills, cough and fever, causing you to miss work or school. By getting the flu vaccine or the flu shot, you can protect yourself, your family and your co-workers. For babies and senior citizens and people with other medical conditions, the medication can be life-saving.
Flu season begins in October and lasts through April, so get your shot in order to be protected. Flu shots are available from your primary care provider, at many local drugstores and pharmacies, and at your local board of health.
Remember that while you are sick, you are also contagious, meaning that you can infect those around you for up to a week or even longer. You can help to prevent the spread of flu by covering your coughs and sneezes, and regularly washing your hands.
Don't wait for flu to find you. Keep yourself and others healthy during this flu season by getting the flu shot today.
