CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - This weekend, Ohio Department of Transportation crews closed portions of I-71 and I-77 approaching downtown Cleveland. Drivers coming from the south who usually take I-77 or I-71 northbound, should use SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77 northbound to reach downtown.
The closure of I-71 northbound began at 10 a.m. on Friday.
"Due to the amount of work on I-71, we've condensed the schedule to fit into one, final weekend closure," said Jocelynn Clemings, ODOT spokesperson. "The 10 a.m. closure allows us to complete the needed work in this area without completely closing the roadway again."
The closure of I-77 in both directions began at 7 p.m. Friday.
All lanes on both roadways will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
Work on I-77 will pave the approaches to the newly re-decked bridge just north of I-480.
On I-71, crews will work to resurface the bridge that carries I-71 over the Jennings Freeway at the Metro Curve approaching the Innerbelt.
ODOT says this is the final weekend needed to close both roadways.
