Man accused of videotaping teens in deadly crash wanted for bribery

LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Lorain Police say the man who was arrested earlier this year for videotaping a deadly crash involving two teens, is now facing a bribery charge.

On July 13, police say Paul Pelton entered the vehicle and took cell phone video of the injured teens. The driver suffered serious injuries and the passenger later died from his injuries.

Two days later, police arrested Pelton on a misdemeanor charge of vehicle trespassing. Pelton pleaded not guilty to the charge and is currently awaiting trial.

On Sept. 21, police say Pelton went to the teen driver's residence and met with him while he was home alone. Pelton proposed that if the teen would tell police that he had permission to enter the vehicle, he would testify that police caused additional injuries to his friend.

After the teen's mother filed a police report, an investigation was initiated.

Lorain's prosecutor reviewed the case and issued an arrest warrant for Pelton on a bribery charge.
