CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland Cavaliers take down the Miami Heat 102-92 on Friday night in the Cavs home opener. The
LeBron James led the way for the Cavaliers with 29 points on 13 of 19 shooting. He started off with the hot hand, making six of his first seven baskets.
James averaged 24 points per game in the four regular season games against his former team last season.
Kevin Love also had a huge game, scoring 24 points and adding 14 rebounds. Matthew Dellavedova contributed nine assists off the bench. For the Heat, Dwayne Wade led the charge with 25 points.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Cavs jumped to a 20 point lead, last season the Cavs defeated the Heat by at least 20 points in their two home games.
For what it's worth, the last nine NBA Championship teams, won their home opener that year. The Cavaliers have now won 21 of their last 22 regular season games at The Q.
The Cavs improve to 2-1 on the season, next up, the Cavs will travel to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers on Monday.
