2 Officers injured in Marlboro Twp. accident

MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an injury crash that occurred sometime around 7:29 p.m. October 30.

The crash happened on State Route 44 north of State Route 619, in Marlboro Township, Stark County.

Officer Christopher Kenneally, 32, of the Marlboro Township Police Department, was operating a 2004 Ford, Crown Victoria Police Interceptor southbound on State Route 44.

According to the report, Officer Kenneally was trying to catch up to another vehicle for a traffic stop.

An unknown black vehicle traveling northbound on State Route 44, traveled left of center forcing Officer Kenneally to drive off the right side of the roadway and into a utility pole.

Officer Kenneally had to be extricated by mechanical means by Marlboro Township Fire and Rescue. He was transported to Aultman Hospital by Marlboro Township EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

A front seat passenger, 29-year-old Cadet Brian Stanley, of the Marlboro Township Police Department, was transported by Hartville EMS to Aultman Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Both officers were wearing their seat belts.

Marlboro Township Fire and EMS were on scene and assisted with the investigation.
